Francis Arackal, OP is a professor of Philosophy and Media. He has taught these subjects in many academic institutions and places of Religious formation. He was also a formator, spiritual director, writer, preacher, editor, parish priest, superior and director of Institute of Philosophy.

Academic Qualifications:       1. PhD in Social Sciences (specializing in Print Media) from the Gregorian and St. Thomas Universities in Rome in 2008. 2. Dip.J (Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism) from Griffith College, Dublin in 1995. 3. Ph L (Licentiate in Philosophy) from St. Thomas’ University, Rome in 1994. 4. M.A in Philosophy from Nagpur University in 1990. 5. BTh (Bachelor of Theology) from St. Thomas’ University, Rome in 1988.

Courses attended on Media:1. Certificate Course in Journalism conducted by Gokhale Institute of Communications & Media Studies and Research.2. Two credits course on Media Ethics from Gregorian University, Rome.3. A certificate course on Videography from Ishvani Kendra, Pune 4. Media Education course in Audio-visual and Film language organized by Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. 5. Seminar-Workshop on Audio-Visual Communications conducted by Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Commission ( KCBC) for Mass Media.

Professional Experience:1. Chairperson of the Department of Communications Media & Publications, St. Charles’ Education Society, Nagpur. 2. Professor of Media Studies at St. Charles’ Education Society, Nagpur.   3. Founder & Director of Catholic Media Forum (CMF), Nagpur. As Director of CMF conducted a Certificate Course in Journalism and Public Relations (three batches). 4. A month’s work experience in the Editing and Layout sections of an Irish Newspaper The Irish Catholic. 5. Went to Lisbon (Portugal) as a correspondent for The Irish Catholic. 6. Director Gyanadhara Institute of Philosophy, Candelem, Orlim, Salcette, Goa.

 Organizations Founded:    Dominican Council of Youth (DCY) in India in July 1996. It is a Council of young people trying to live the Spirituality –Community, Prayer, Study and Mission - of the Dominican Order along with the other branches of the Order. It had six groups in Nagpur, Bangalore, Vaduthala, Dalmadi, New Delhi and Mumbai till 2004.

                                      Catholic Media Forum (CMF) in Nagpur in July 1997. It is an umbrella organization for all those lay people who are interested in  the Media and works in the Media.
